This is the second scene in which it is revealed where the Momiji eggs come from. As we come up out of the tube, we are given a tour of the dark, dingy, gross room in which a gross, overweight and unsightly man i sitting an binge eating on a couch in front of the TV. Whilst enjoing a large bowl of Jell-O, our EggMan begins to suffer from severe gastric inconvenience, and after an arduous few moments produces an egg from underneath him. He looks releaved, leans back, flips the egg onto the track and settles in for more food. We follow the egg down the track to the tube from where we just came from.

DURING THE FILMING:
In keeping with the idea of shaping content in regards to where it will be shown, Oslo, Norway, I took some (iconic) images which the people of Scandinavia can relate to, as well as being an image other people understand as well.
My second idea is somewhat more dark, but still poignant with very strong imagery with very little text.
initial ideas
It’s very important to think about the place it’s being shown, and try to make it as close and relevant as possible to the people who are going to see it.
Examples are from Cambodia and Laos, where the style of the poster is made with strong colors, with easy to understand messages and imagery that the population recognises and feels comfortable with.
As the Momiji project is progressing onwards, I keep on trying to re-invent the wheel rather than going with something that I think is good. This is the same problem I had in the 1st year, when I kept on trying to produce work to suit the teachers rather than going with my own ‘intuition’. The result being I hate all the work I produce and can’t stand any of my ideas. So I decided yesterday that I would stop doing that, and try to create something that I feel interested in and exited about.
The following image is a moodboard for my Momiji film I’m making.
So it’s a short story on the creation of the Momiji doll, where in a dark, dirty and twisted room, a large man-thing is producing eggs which he positions onto a track. The egg rolls away, and cut to; small room filled with anticipatory japanese people with a long tube coming from the ceiling. A sound can be heard, as if something is coming towards them, and as they get more and more exited, the egg falls out of the sky, and lands in the middle of the group. The egg breaks on inpact, revealing a small cute japanese doll. Quickly they all scramble to get her into a box, and then the box is taken to a small opening in the wall, which briefly opens, the box is pulled in, and the opening closes again. The japanese people look happy and soon they hear that familiar sound again.
Had a few ideas for the MSHK brief, went to one of the nights, and was inspired by the light show. Have arranged to go to Ministry and do some testfilming next week. Until then here is an example of what I wish to create.
How are the dolls made, where do they come from? Taking references from Willy Wonka and his wonderful contraptions, the dark machines of Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events and some japanese manga style included too. I want to make a film set in the factory and follow the making of one of the dolls.
So finally we got the date set for the opening of the film. We have been given an amazing space, and it/s going to look great, so all of you are invited! Just download the invitation flyer and put on some nice shoes.
